Restoration and redevelopment of watercourses

With the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) it has become mandatory that all redevelopment measures concerning surface waters be oriented to achieve a “good ecological status”. The integrated, holistic approach to the management of watercourse systems assigns equal importance to emissions and immissions. This concept of sustainability is systematically pursued in our planning.

It applies to the design phase through to the execution of works. We carry out model calculations to forecast and quantify the interactive cause-and-effect relationships between the catchment area and the relevant watercourse. The proposed construction measures can be optimized by using our simulation models for the management of water resources. In addition to the water quantities, we also examine the dynamic force of the moving wave, the water quality aspects and the compliance with ecological guidelines. In certain specific matters we cooperate with external consultants. The multidisciplinary interaction of specialists provides us – and our clients – with comprehensive design solutions.
